C G Taylor left the Taylor Aircraft Company which was
now headed by Bill Piper in 1935 and proceeded to form a new company,
the Taylor-Young Airplane Co. of Ohio in 1936. Its first product was the
Taylor-Young Model A which was a side by side two seat development of
the tandem two seat Taylor J-2 Cub. It was a very successful design and
the next development, the Model B, which was powered by a 50hp(37kW)
Continental became known as the Taylorcraft BC, although the company was
not renamed the Taylorcraft Aviation Corporation until 1940. A small
number of Model A’s remain active.
