The Teal was designed by David B Thurston and the
initial TSC-1 made its first flight in 1968. The production TSC-1A (14
built) was followed by the TSC-1A1 (12 built) which were built by
Schweizer who had obtained the rights in 1972. The TSC-1A1 introduced an
optional third seat and had new wing leading edge fuel tanks. The
TSC-1A2 Teal 11 featured slotted flaps and a higher maximum take-off
weight. The Teal Aircraft Corporation acquired the rights from Schweizer
in 1976. A small numbers of Teals remain airworthy.
