Timm PT-220C (N2T-1) Tutor

The Timm Aircraft Corporation of Glendale, California, had specialised in a system of plastic construction using its patented Aeromold process. In 1941 the company’s PT-160K two seat trainer, built entirely of plastic bonded plywood was awarded an Approved Type Certificate. This aircraft was powered by a 160hp(119kW) Kinner and had a maximum take-off weight of 1977lb(897kg). The US Navy conducted tests on the PT-160K and subsequently placed a contract for the type fitted with the 220hp Continental radial and designated N2T-1. A very small number remain airworthy out of around 8 survivors. The company also built the Timm K-100, K-150 and K-165 Collegiate, the K-100 (5 built) making its first flight in 1929 powered by a 100hp(75kW) Kinner and with a maximum take-off weight of 1952lb(886kg). Two Collegiates are known to have survived but it is not known if either is active.
