Transall C-160

Transall (Transporter Allianz) was formed in 1959 by Aerospatiale, MBB and VFW to produce the C-160 military transport. Examples were delivered to the air forces of France (50), Germany (90), South Africa (9) and Turkey (20). An improved version, the C-160NG (Nouvelle Generation), made its first flight in 1981 and 29 were delivered to the French Air Force as well as 6 examples which were delivered to Indonesia for operation by Pelita Air Services. A few C-160NG’s remain active in civil markings notably with Manunggal Air Service of Indonesia.
