The company of Walter Uetz began aircraft manufacture
in the 1950’s when they built a number of Jodel D.11’s under licence.
They developed the Jodel design into the Uetz U2V (3* built) which first
flew in 1962 powered by a 100hp (75kW) Continental and which had a
maximum take-off weight of 1540lb(699kg). A four seat version, the Uetz
U3M Pelikan(2 built) made its first flight in 1963 powered by a
135hp(100kW) Lycoming and from this was developed the more powerful Uetz
U4M. The Uetz (Markwalder) Marabu (1 built) was a three seat light
aircraft which first flew in 1965 powered by a 150hp Lycoming and with a
maximum take-off weight of 2140lb(971kg). The company ended production
in 1965 and four U4M’s remain on the Swiss register of which at least
one remains airworthy.
