The UTVA-66 was developed from the UTVA-60 which was
similar and which first flew in 1961 powered by a 270hp(201kW) Lycoming
and which had a maximum take-off weight of 3615lb(1641kg). This in turn
had been derived from the UTVA-56 which had first flown in 1959 powered
by a 240hp (179kW) Lycoming and with a maximum take-off weight of 2838lb
(1288kg). The UTVA-66 was operated by the Yugoslav Air Force in the
utility role but had provision for a machine gun pack under each wing. A
small number are now in civil markings in North America.
