The Vinka was designed as a replacement for the Saab
Safir trainers in use with the Finnish Air Force. In military service
the aircraft was used in the primary and aerobatic training roles as
well as observation, liaison and ambulance duties. As an air ambulance
it could accommodate a stretcher patient, attendant and pilot. A few are
now in civilian markings.
