The VFW 614 was the result of a joint project by the
West German company of Vereinigte Flugtechnische Werke and the Dutch
company Fokker to produce a short range civil transport. The type was
unusual in that the engines were mounted on pylons above the wings.
Production ended in 1978 with only 16 production aircraft built,
including three for the Luftwaffe, three for Air Alsace, two for Cimber
Air and eight for Touraine Air Transport. The three ex-Luftwaffe
aircraft were recently active in civil markings with Muk Air of Denmark.
