The Waco ASO, also known as the Model 10W, was a
higher powered version of the Model 10, the Wright engine being
introduced when it became apparent there would be a shortage of the
World War 1 surplus Curtiss engines which the company had been using up
until 1927. At least 35 examples have survived with a number of those
remaining airworthy. The Waco ATO (55 built), also known as the Model
10T, was first flown in 1928 and was similar to the ASO except for
having tapered wings. Around 20 Model ATO’s have survived.
