Waco SRE Aristocrat

The Waco RE series was the last of the cabin Wacos. It was available in a number of versions including the Model ARE (4 built) powered by a 300hp(223kW) Jacobs and with a maximum take-off weight of 4000lb(1816kg), and the Model HRE (4 built) powered by a 285hp(212kW) Lycoming. Four examples of the SRE and one each of the ARE and HRE are extant. During World War 11 the USAAF impressed 44 cabin Wacos for communications duties and many of these are among the 140 survivors of around 877 cabin Wacos that were built. Waco attempted to re-enter the light aircraft market after the war but in 1946 decided to end all aircraft production. A Model ARE is illustrated below.
