Waco UPF-7

The Waco UPF-7 was a heavier version of the earlier Waco F series which included the Model UMF-3 (18 built) which was first flown in 1934 powered by a 210hp(156kW) Continental R-670 and with a maximum take-off weight of 2500lb(1135kg); the Model YPF-6 (5 built) first flown in 1935 powered by a 225hp (167kW) Jacobs and the Model YPF-7 (3 built) similarly powered. The Model CPF-1 (1 built) first flew in 1935 powered by a 285hp (212kW) Wright and this aircraft, N54948, still exists. The Model UPF-7 was initially offered as a three seat tourer but after one was evaluated by the USAAC in 1939, large numbers were ordered and delivered to the Civilian Pilot Training Program. More than 190 examples of the UPF-7 have survived with a large number of those remaining airworthy. Six examples powered by the 240hp(179kW) Continental and designated VPF-7 were sold to the Guatemala Army Air Corps in 1937 and two of these have survived.
