Westland bought Saunders-Roe Ltd. in 1959 and
developed the Saunders-Roe P.531 which was ordered by the Army Air Corps
as a multi-role tactical helicopter. They entered service in 1963 and
were retired in 1994, some of these becoming civil registered.
