The CH 601 was developed from the CH 600 which first
flew in prototype form in 1984 and was relaunched as the CH 601 with
kits being produced for homebuilders in 1991. The CH 601 UL was the
ultralight version, the CH 601HD was the heavy duty version with a wider
cockpit, and the CH 601HDS offered higher performance and features
shorter tapered wings of 23’0"(7.01m) span. The CH 601 series can be
powered by engines in the range 50hp(37kW) to 115hp(85kW).
