Zlin Z-50LS  


The Zlin Z-50 series of competition aerobatic aircraft was built in a number of versions. The Zlin Z-50L (20* built) was first flown in 1975 powered by a 260hp(193kW) Lycoming and with a maximum take-off weight of 1587lb (720kg). The Z-50LA had a propeller speed governor and pitch control. The Z-50LE (1 built) was a Z-50LS with a lighter airframe and shortened wings. The Z-50M (3+ built) first flew in 1988 powered by a 180hp(134kW) Avia and had a fuselage length of 22’10"(6.95m) and a maximum take-off weight of 1543lb(700kg). The Z-50LS won the World Aerobatic Championships in 1984 and 1986. Production of the Z-50 series ended in 1994 with a total of 83 of all versions built.
