The Z-526F was a more powerful version of the
original Z-526 (150* built) which first flew in 1965 powered by a
160hp(119kW) Walter and which was basically a cleaned up version of the
Z-326 with a new engine cowling. A single seat version for aerobatics
was the Z-526A Akrobat and the Z-526AF was the single seat version of
the Z-526F. The Zlin Z-526AFS Akrobat Special (55+ built) was first
flown in 1970 and had a length of 25’7.5" (8.42m), a wingspan of
29’0"(8.83m) and a maximum take-off weight of 1851lb(840kg). A total of
331 Zlin Z-526’s of all versions were eventually built and a small
number remain active. The Zlin Z-726 Universal was first flown in 1973
and was similar to the Z-526 except it had a wingspan of 32’4.5"(9.86m)
and a maximum take-off weight of 2204lb(1000kg). The Z-726K was powered
by a 210hp(156kW) Avia. Production ended in 1977 and 32 Z-726’s were
built.
