The T-37A (534 built)
entered service with the USAF in 1956. It was succeeded on the
production line by the more powerful T-37B which entered service in
1959. All the remaining T-37A's were eventually retrofitted to T-37B
standard. The T-37C (273 built) was introduced in 1961 as an export
version with wingtip tanks and provision for underwing armament.
Production ended in 1977. At least 90 T-37B's, which have been given the
unofficial name "Tweety Bird", remain in USAF service.
