The Riley International Corporation of California has
been involved in the conversion of commercially produced light aircraft
for many years. Among the types converted have been the de Havilland
DH.104 Dove, 30* of which were converted from 1963 to take 2x
400hp(298kW) Turbo Lycomings. They had a maximum take-off weight of
8800lb(3995kg) and were designated Riley 400. The de Havilland DH.114
Heron, 20* of which were converted to take 4x 290hp(216kW) Turbo
Lycomings from 1967 and designated Riley Turbo Skyliner. The Handley
Page HP.137 Jetstream 1, a small number of which were converted to take
2x 940shp(701kW) Turbomecas from 1975 and designated Riley Jetstream.
The Riley Twin Navion (19 built) was the first twin engined conversion
of the Ryan Navion, being powered by 2x 150hp(112kW) Lycomings. The
Cessna 310A/G has been re-engined with 2x 260hp(194kW) Turbo
Continentals and with a maximum take-off weight of 4830lb(2192kG);
designation is Riley 65. Another Cessna 310 conversion is the Riley
Rocket which is powered by 2x 290hp(216kW) Turbo Lycomings. The Riley
Super 310 is powered by 2x 310hp 231kW) Turbo Continentals. The Riley
Rocket 340 was a conversion of the Cessna 340 to Cessna 340A standard.
The Riley Super 414-8 was a Cessna 414 re-engined with 2x 400hp(298kW)
Lycomings and with a maximum take-off weight of 6825lb(3098kg). The
Riley Turbine Eagle was the Cessna 421C converted to take 2x 750shp
(559kW) Pratt & Whitneys and with a maximum take-off weight of
7700lb(3495kg). .
